Cardamom Buns (Kardamomknoten)

These handmade cardamom buns are made in Zurich from soft yeast dough, high-quality cardamom filling, and Swiss butter. They are known for their moist, fluffy texture and balanced flavor – a Scandinavian pastry perfect with coffee, for meetings, or simply as a snack.

The cardamom rolls are available fresh in stores as well as frozen in packs of two or six. Frozen, they can be easily baked at home and remain soft and aromatic. Depending on availability, they can also be picked up or delivered.

A classic pastry with modern convenience – freshly baked in Zurich, in small batches and with high-quality ingredients.

Special fillings or larger quantities are available upon request – just ask!

Details

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 180-200°C and bake on the lower rack for 15 minutes. Alternatively, defrost in the microwave at 600W for 50-60 seconds.

Storage & Shelf Life

Best enjoyed fresh. Store in an airtight container and consume within 3 days.

My process

Each bun is made from scratch using a slow fermentation process – for better taste and a finer texture.

The story

These buns are inspired by Nordic baking traditions, but adapted to Zurich tastes. Originally, I only baked them for friends – now they're my most requested product. Today, they're the heart of Petr's Bakery.
